2023-2024 Season

As teams are formed in the fall, rosters and schedules will be posted in the YOUTH area of the website.  Please check back as we get closer to the season.

1st and 2nd Grade Skills

Our 1st & 2nd grade skills program teaches the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, passing and shooting all in a fun environment.  Sessions this year are being held at the River Falls Montessori gym on Saturday mornings starting early November and running through mid-December (11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9 and 12/16).  1st graders are from 8 to 9am and the 2nd graders are from 9 to 10am.  The philosophy at this level is to learn, improve and to have fun!  Each player will receive a River Falls youth basketball and a participation t-shirt.  The kids will also have an opportunity to perform the skills they have learned at halftime of an RFHS boys varsity basketball game (date TBA).  Cost for 1st and 2nd grade is $50.

3rd and 4th Grade Mini-NBA

Our in-house mini-NBA program for boys in 3rd & 4th grade begins with Big Mondays in November (11/6, 11/13, 11/20). These sessions are used for skill development and player evaluation. Teams are broken up by grade level (3rd graders only play with 3rd graders and 4th graders only play with 4th graders).  Following the three Big Monday's comes yet another big evening on Monday, November 27 at 6pm at River Falls High School. On this night, we will announce teams and Coach Campbell and the RFHS boys varsity basketball team will work with the kids and demonstrate their skills and practice methods.  Team practices are held every Monday evening beginning in early December (location and time TBD).  Practices/games are held on Saturday mornings starting on 12/3 at Meyer Middle School.  The mini-NBA season will culminate with a tournament on 2/3, also at Meyer Middle School (times TBA).  Equal playing time is a priority and each player will receive a River Falls youth basketball participation t-shirt and game shirt. Cost for 3rd and 4th grade is $75.

5th – 8th Grade Traveling

The 5th grade boys begin their traveling season with Big Mondays in November (11/6, 11/13, 11/20) These sessions are used for skill development and player evaluation.  Following the three Big Monday's teams will be divided equally and coaches will communicate practice and game times to players.  In 5th grade, like Mini-NBA, equal playing time is a priority. Cost for 5th grade is $110.

The 6th grade boys begins the traveling basketball season in early November.  Teams will be divided up by skill level, and each team will play in 6-7 tournaments.  Equal playing time will be a priority.  Cost for 6th grade is $110.

7th and 8th grade boys begin the traveling basketball season as soon as the school fall seasons are completed (usually mid-October) with a very limited practice schedule due to middle school basketball going on from mid-October until usually the third week of December.  In January, practice will start to be more consistent, usually twice a week.  Teams will be divided by skill level, and each team will have 6-8 tournaments from December until late February or early March.  Equal playing time is no longer guaranteed in 7th and 8th grades, but everyone will play at least 25% in each game.  More emphasis is placed on winning, but not at the expense of the other goals of the organization:  to play hard, learn and to have fun.  Coaches will communicate team assignments, practice and game times to all players.  Cost for 7th and 8th grade is $135.

Player evaluations for 6th-8th grade will take place in mid-October.  Details will be e-mailed to all program participants at a later date.
